FAQs

Common questions about our safety and signage services

What's the difference between private site and public road traffic signs?

Public road traffic signs must comply strictly with TSRGD regulations - you cannot vary designs, colors, or symbols on public highways. Private site signs have more flexibility but should still follow regulatory patterns for clarity and recognition. Public road signs often require reflective materials meeting specific performance standards for nighttime visibility. Private sites can use non-reflective signs if adequate lighting exists. Chapter 8 requirements for roadworks signage are more stringent than general site signage. Enforcement is different - police enforce public road signs while private landowners enforce site traffic rules. However, best practice is making private site signs similar to public road signs so drivers instantly recognize their meaning. We can advise which regulations apply to your specific situation and supply appropriately compliant signage whether for public or private use.

Do you install traffic management signage?

We supply traffic management signage and equipment but recommend specialist traffic management companies for complex public highway installations requiring full NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) compliance, lane closures, or traffic light installations. These require specific accreditation and insurance we don't hold. For straightforward private site traffic signs - speed limits, stop signs, directional signs on your premises - we can advise on installation or provide signs ready for your team to install. Many private site traffic signs are simple post-mounted installations manageable in-house. We focus on supplying compliant signage that meets your requirements, while partnering with specialists for complex public road traffic management where appropriate. This ensures you get properly qualified installation while benefiting from our signage supply expertise.

Can traffic management signs be hired rather than purchased?

Yes, we offer hire services for traffic management signs particularly suited to temporary projects, roadworks, events, or short-term site access requirements. Hire makes economic sense for projects lasting weeks or months where purchasing signs isn't justified. Typical hire items include portable sign frames, temporary road signs, traffic cones, barriers, and chapter 8 vehicle-mounted signs. Hire packages can be tailored to project duration with flexible collection and return arrangements. For very short-term needs (days), hire is almost always more cost-effective than purchase. Longer projects may benefit from purchase if signs will be used repeatedly. We can advise on the most economical approach for your specific situation. Hire equipment is maintained and cleaned between uses, arriving site-ready.

Do your traffic management signs meet traffic regulations?

Yes, all traffic management signage complies with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD) for use on public highways and meets relevant standards for private sites. Signs use correct symbols, colors, borders, and text as regulations require. Regulatory signs (mandatory and prohibition) use specific designs that cannot be varied. Temporary traffic signs for roadworks must meet Chapter 8 specifications including reflectivity standards. We ensure signs are legally compliant for their intended use - whether temporary roadworks, permanent site installation, or event traffic management. For complex traffic management schemes on public roads, we recommend involving traffic management specialists who can design compliant arrangements. We supply the compliant signage hardware they specify, or provide straightforward signage for simpler private site applications.

What traffic management signage do you supply?

We supply complete traffic management signage for sites, roads, and temporary traffic control including mandatory signs (stop, give way, speed limits), warning signs (road works ahead, temporary traffic lights), directional signs and arrows, lane closure signs, diversion route signs, pedestrian crossing signs, temporary road signs on portable frames or weighted bases, vehicle height restriction signs, and width restriction signs. All signage meets traffic sign regulations for use on public highways and private land. Materials are suitable for outdoor use with high-visibility reflective properties where required. We can supply single signs or complete traffic management packages for roadworks, construction sites, events, or temporary road closures. Signs are available for purchase or hire depending on project duration.
